Hyundai Equus earns IIHS "Top Safety Pick" Status

The Hyundai Equus comes with an iPad for an owner’s manual, and pick-up and drop-up service for maintenance. Now it also comes with top crash test scores. The Equus earned “Top Safety Pick” status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety yesterday. “The Equus is rated good for front, side, rollover, and rear crash protection, and it has electronic stability control, another requirement for earning the Institute's highest accolade,” reports the IIHS. “In the Institute's roof strength test for rollover protection, the roof of the Equus withstood a force equal to 4.87 times the car's weight.”

The Equus joins a sizeable list of luxury large cars to earn this award, which include the BMW 5-Series, Infiniti M, Lincoln MKS, Mercedes E-Class and Volvo S80. Hyundai’s share of “Top Safety Pick” winners isn’t confined to its most expensive model. The Hyundai Genesis, Sonata, Santa Fe and Tucson are also IIHS “Top Safety Picks.”
