Honda Voluntarily Recalls 2012 Civics for Fuel Leak Problem

Honda is voluntarily recalling 1,156 Civics from the 2012 model year in the U.S. due to a potential problem with its fuel feed line. Honda will replace the fuel feed line, which could potentially leak a small amount of fuel.

“During manufacture of the fuel line assembly, an O-ring may have been displaced, which could potentially lead to a fuel leak at a joint where two segments of pipe attach to each other,” Honda said in a statement released Thursday.

Most of the cars affected by the fuel leak problem have not been sold yet and dealers will repair them before they are sold. Honda says there have been no reports of injuries or fires related to the fuel feed line problem.

Honda will notify owners of affected 2012 Civic vehicles starting May 27. Honda says that in addition to notifying affected owners by mail, after May 27, owners of 2012 Civics can go to www.recalls.honda.com to see if their Civic is one of the 1,156 that needs a new fuel feed line. Civic owners can also call 1-800-999-1009 and select option 4.
